Christa Grix and Olive Bernard lead five, six or seven
students in a core
curriculum including Technique,
Harmony, Practice Methods, Performance
Readiness, Solo
Performance, Ensemble Performance, Chamber
Music
Performance, Master Classes, and Intro to Jazz
Improvisation, on the
mountain campus of Lowell
Whiteman School. Each harp student receives
two
private lessons per week, and performs in public
recital in the town
of Steamboat Springs. Rocky
Mountain Summer Conservatory represents a new
approach
to the study of music which addresses the development
of
musicians as artists, athletes and leaders. We are
a close-knit community of
approximately forty students
centered on the performance of chamber music.
The
environment is nurturing and intensive, without being
competitive. Our
spectacular location and outdoor
activities are inspiring, and
interdisciplinary
classes such as Tae Kwon Do, Photography, and
Jazz
Improvisation promote a fascination with learning.
There are two
partial scholarships for harp students,
in honor of Lucile Lawrence.
